Cirque du Soleil’s new show, “Echo,” will make its world premiere in Montreal next April.
Featuring high-flying acrobatics, Cirque’s latest creation explores the relationship between humans, animals and the planet they share, its narrative centering around a female protagonist, Future.
“ECHO will push the values of connection, inspiration and the power of intention. We have the ability to create and manifest the world we want to live in.” – ECHO Show Director, Mukhtar Omar Sharif Mukhtar
The production’s centerpiece will be a giant cube standing two-stories tall.
ABOUT THE SHOW
Cirque du Soleil brings new and surprising twists to its big top magic with a story about evolution and the symbiotic unions that our future depends on. Poetry, stagecraft, daring acrobatics and technologies come together in a spectacle exploring the precious balance between humans, animals and the world we share.
As they navigate the phases of evolution, our main female protagonist Future and our characters learn that their actions have the power to shape the world. Inspired to collaborate, they come together to rebuild our planet piece by piece, creating the world we all want to live in.
Fueled by the power of invention, the hope of the youth and the importance of empathy, ECHO invites the audience to participate in a universe of color, wonder and infinite possibilities.
CIRQUE IN MONTREAL
“Echo” will kick off on April 20 at Montreal’s Old Port, followed by a series of performances before the international tour begins.
Cirque du Soleil has signed a 10-year agreement with the Old Port to present its new creations and classics. The first year of this collaboration concluded with the show “Kooza” over the summer.
The show broke a record for the number of tickets sold in Montreal, according to Cirque president Stéphane Lefebvre.
